December 5 Understanding Sinus Congestion

“You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.” Swami Vivekananda

I have a stuffy nose and sinus discomfort. Someone clued me in to the metaphysical meaning of blocked sinuses today in casual conversation, so I did a little more research on this topic.

This is what they tell us: Sinusitis is an inflammation of the nasal sinuses, mostly caused by bacteria. The sinuses are located above the eyes, inside each cheekbone, behind the bridge of the nose and in the upper nose. Symptoms of sinusitis include headache, earache, toothache, facial pain, cranial pressure, loss of sense of smell, tenderness over the forehead and cheekbones, and occasionally a high fever.

This is what they don’t tell us: Everything is energy including our thoughts and emotions. When we do not express ourselves or allow energy to flow… there will be imbalance. When we become imbalanced, disease or illness will manifest. The mucous membranes hold the emotion of resentment. The sinuses more specifically deals with our resentments that manifest around abundance issues. This means that a person who has chronic sinus issues is spending more time focusing on what they don’t have instead of what they do have. In order to heal, appreciation for what you do have should be the main focus.

The metaphysical meaning of sinusitis is… 1). Irritation at one person. 2). Feeling scattered and overwhelmed. 3). Frightened about the future. 4). Low self worth and low self esteem. 5). Unable to break free from old patterns. 6). Don’t know which way to go to solve the issue. 7). Repressed grief and un-shed tears. 8). Need to release blockage to become unstuck. Sinus infections are a result of holding in your words, rather than expressing what is coming up for you, usually with someone close to you.

So what I’m saying is this: if you suffer from frequent sinus problems, you probably need to speak up about issues between yourself and someone very close to you. There is probably some repressed anger in your closest relationship. You need to clear the air literally and figuratively. I am going to take this advice.
